every now and a g a i n [ ADAM ]

Adam had been at work since 5AM much to his displeasure, but it was the money that he cared about. If he wanted to pay for things he needed the job so he'd work whatever ungodly hours they told him he had to work. Now it was his mid-shift break so he would go to the staff lounge and eat something, maybe snooze for a few minutes since he had an hour break. Usually he would eat in the guard area but today he didn't feel like dealing with everyone, not when he had a delicious cheesesteak waiting for him with seasoned fries. Advantage to knowing how to cook: you could cook things well.

On his way to the lounge he got stopped a few times to help people do one thing or the other, most of it was just keep unruly patients under control but there was one nurse who just wanted to make sure she would have a guard when she brought in a patient. Some of these kids had too many screws loose, almost as if they were missing part of their brain entirely. It was a little weird thinking someone could have this much wrong with them but Adam figured it happened. Whether it was genetic, parental issues or a loose wire from being dropped on their head as a baby, they were in need of help. Then there were the kids that didn't seem to deserve to be here at all. Some of these kids were just thrown away by their parents who didn't want to deal with the minor problems the kids had. If Adam's parents had been like that he would have killed them, or at least planned it.

Walking into the lounge he spotted none other than Alex. A smirk lifted his features and he walked over, jumping over the back of the couch to land beside her. "Hey, spooked," he smirked, getting up to go get his lunch. "Wale up, you're not supposed to be sleeping on the job!" Adam put his lunch into the microwave so it would heat up, eyes looking over at Alex. God she was a good looking woman, one most would prefer as a trophy wife but he'd keep her as his bed buddy. Hell, even if they could eventually just hang out together it would be pretty cool. "Why are you so tired, anyway?" He asked as he sat down with his food in his hands, setting it all down beside his soda.

Adam laughed gently at her mention of going out and shook his head. Alex was a big partier, she even out-partied Adam it seemed. Munching on his fries he looked over at her, smirking. "If you let me finish eating I can sure as hell give you some of my energy," he winked, laughing. How would that even work? What if someone walked in on them? Oh lord, that would be hell since there wasn't supposed to be any fraternizing with your co-workers. Apparently it was ok to do so with your patients, he had walked in on a few doctors and even some nurses doing patients. At first he reported it but then it got too annoying with all of the paperwork that followed the report. Some of the paperwork had taken days to go through and resulted in mass fires but Adam had had it with reporting them. Let them screw who they wish.

"I really don't know how you go out so much. I'd be way too tired. Then again, I get to sit on my ass almost all day." That infamous smirked worked its way onto his face at that comment, glad he could sit down all day. Every so often he had to go on a round and walk through the asylum, take a trip outside if the patients were out there, otherwise he sat down all day. Shaking his head he quickly ate his cheesesteak, almost woofing it down he was so hungry. His alarm hadn't gone off so he was running late and wound up not being able to eat before leaving. Usually he'd snag some pop tarts but he'd been lazy and hadn't gone shopping in a week so he had none. Oh well, his belly was full now so he wouldn't have to worry.

Leaning back into the couch he looked over at Alex, giving a light smile. "How drunk were you last night?" He laughed a bit and kicked his legs up onto the table, wanting to get comfortable since he'd be sitting there for awhile. A long stretch followed by a light yawn were all the moving he did, now as comfortable as he could possibly get.

Her comment made him laugh a bit and shake his head, waiting until he didn't have a mouth full of food to say, "No. I ate the rest of my poptarts yesterday and forgot to stop to get some. So I didn't eat this morning." Adam had to eat constantly, he was virtually a bottomless pit most days and it took a lot to fill him. Everything that he ate he usually worked off in the gym, easily losing weight with his high metabolism too. In about an hour he would be eating more food just to keep himself going. Oh high metabolisms were great to a certain degree, then they became annoying like Adam's was. If he were to stop working out he'd lose his muscle mass and become a skinny thing, that was something that wasn't going to happen as long as he could prevent it.

Her climbing into his lap made him look up at her, hands automatically resting on her hips. "I'm yawning because I'm comfortable," he managed to get out before her kisses. He turned his chin just enough to show her more of his neck, eyes closing in pure bliss for a moment. "I like your thinking," he smirked, untying her scrub pants. Now was the point where he should shut up, and he was going to do his best to not talk. Adam had a minor habit of talking when he shouldn't be, especially during sex but he was usually just talking dirty to whoever was with him.

He sat up enough to kiss her, giving a tug on her shirt to pull her down to him so he didn't have to sit up all the way. Every once in awhile someone would walk into the lounge for their lunch break at the same time Adam was, but it rarely happened that he wasn't alone. Hopefully it held true today and they could have a little private time without anyone coming in. If they did, oh well, they'd have a good show of their amazing sex.

Adam watched her get up before pulling his pants back up and tucking his shirt in. She only had scrubs to put on, he had to put his pants back on, tuck his shirt and undershirt in, then put his gun belt on and attach some things to the gun belt. At least he could do it at a quick pace so when the other nurse walked in he was just adjusting his gun belt. Watching the bottle nearly miss the other nurse he smirked, sitting back down beside her. "Maybe, it would be a first," he laughed, shaking his head a bit. Honestly it would be nice to have a full conversation with her. Even though the sex was awesome, the best he had ever had actually, having a full conversation with her wouldn't be that bad of a thing. Adam liked to talk so he was always down for it.

"Well, ya know, I have a lot of hours of overtime so I can take off early if you can." It was a suggestion and he shrugged, watching her. Adam wouldn't mind leaving work early at all considering he hadn't had a day off outside of the Saturday he was usually scheduled off since he started to work at the manor. An afternoon off just to screw around and chill was the perfect way to end his work week even if he didn't have tomorrow off. "An afternoon off would be awesome." He nodded, finishing off his soda and tossing it into the trash can. All Alex had to do was say she'd take off the rest of the afternoon and he would go tell Eliot he had to roll out. Of course, Alex probably had chores she had to do and patients to take care of that none of the other nurses could cover her for. If that was the case he would finish off the work day and head home, no partying or anything, just home.

Stretching out on the little bit of couch left he sighed, getting comfortable again. He had at least another ten minutes of his break left so he was going to chill out and relax. Unlike some people who were always itching to go back to work, Adam would rather kick it back and sleep. Oh sleep was a glorious thing that he could use right now even though he got nine hours of sleep the night before. If he wasn't going to go home and sleep he was going home to go grocery shopping. He needed to eat and without his cabinets being full, he couldn't make himself any dinner.

Adam smiled when she said she would leave early, hoping off the couch almost in excitement. He listened to her before nodding, buttoning the rest of his buttons on his shirt. "Yep, I'm parked on the wall in the last spot closest to the building. I'll meet you out there," he smirked, grabbing his soda. As he passed by her he bumped her gently with his hips, heading for the door with the lightest of chuckles emanating from his throat. Oh the rest of the day was going to be amazing, spent pretty much naked probably and he would be away from the asylum. His goofy smile probably gave away everything that was going through his head but he didn't care.

Walking down the hallway he attended to some of the problems nurses were having and when he finally made it to the guard area, he leaned up against the door. The conversation with Eliot took all of three minutes before he agreed to just let Adam go home seeing as they had plenty of coverage for the rest of the day. Smirking, Adam grabbed his backpack filled with his extra clothes and dug out his keys as he walked to the parking lot. He always carried a backpack with him to work, carried his lunch, clothes and things to do if he got bored in it. Hmph, maybe he should figure out a way to stick Alex in it. Bad boy. Bad thoughts for right now. Shaking his head, he pulled his shirt off so he was just in his undershirt, glad that he had the too-thick shirt off until tomorrow. Once at his car he tossed his backpack in and waited for Alex to arrive, leaning up against the car while fiddling with his sunglasses so they would sit right on his face.

((Hmmm...who's apartment should they go to?? If we were to stick with her subplot, Adam's would be the most secure but he has no food XD Just beer and alcohol.))
