I’m not crazy I’m just a little impaired. I know, right now you don’t care…
“Can’t I please go outside?” His voice seemed to echo in the clean room, as he tried to get the nurse to let him out. He wanted fresh air, needed some space. The nurse shook her head. “No sir, you need to stay and try to sleep, you’re too weak…” Too weak his foot! Sure, he hadn’t slept in ages, but that didn’t mean he couldn’t walk around! “But…” The nurse glared at him, and shook his head. “No, you’ll find a stick, and I’ll be blamed…” Wow, maybe nurses were smart. He sighed and sat down on the bed, defeated. “I’m setting today’s pills on the counter here, You take them.” She set them on the little counter by the door, next to a couple books his father had brought him the last time he visited. Apostle’s Fables, a bible, and a random poetry book. He rarely picked up the bible, but he had read the poetry book over and over. It was an anthology of many writers, and it was good. Apostle’s fables were good too. Hmm. He didn’t glance at the pills or at the nurse leaving, he just stared at the floor. He wasn’t really supposed to stay in his room all day, right?
An hour or two passed, and his room door was finally unlocked. He was going to be temporarily free to go outside! Or two the cafeteria, where he was bound to find a book. If he was lucky, another knife. But that would be lucky, and when was he ever lucky? He was led out by another random nurse, and held by the shirt and pushed along, like he was a little kid. “Stop touching me.” He snapped once he was annoyed with it, after about two seconds. The nurse ignored this, and didn’t let go until he was given to the security so the nurse could go back to the normal things. Bah, they were all idiots. He glared up the men as he pushed him out the door. He glanced back at them before walking to the far corner he could go. Some of the other patients were there, but he paid no mind. If they didn’t bother him, they would all get along. He didn’t deserve kindness anyways. Roman sat down in some of the shadows of the walls. Still visible, but not really. He sighed and fiddled with his clean jeans. The last ones had been ruined with blood- someone had been curious to see if he actually felt pain… and he had. There was corrupt doctors here… but that was just as well. Maybe they could help him with his death wish.
He stared at the cement, before standing up and deciding to look for a stick. That’ll be fun… Touching the wall with one hand and dragging it, he started to circulate the perimeter, looking down. He felt the slight pain in his hand as he dug deeper, but the security didn’t seem to notice. Finding a rock, he grinned. Now that could come in handy. He looked around for anyone who would seem to care. The security was distracted, and the others didn’t know him so they wouldn’t care either. Quickly, he stuck the rock in his pocket of his jeans, and covered the pocket with his loose white shirt. Hopefully no one would notice… Head down and not wanting to get attention now, he started to walk back to his corner. He wasn’t paying attention, so he accidentally bumped into someone roughly. The impact made him almost fall over. Oops.
“I’m sorry.” He said quietly, keeping his head down, and folding his arms behind his back. He didn’t know who the person was, and he didn’t really want to know. He just wanted to go back to his corner… “I wasn’t looking…” A random tear streaked down his face, for he was unable to control it. He really hadn’t meant to… Hopefully the person would move on and forget. “Won’t happen again…I promise” He said, before trying to slowly move around them.
