David was exhausted. Throughout his entire life, he had never worked this hard. Homework was nothing compared to daily reports, highschool drama was a grain of sand compared to the desert of an insane asylum. So you couldn't blame Dave for just wanting to go home get get some good, old fashioned sleep. But it didn't exactly work out that way.
He was lost again, and this time found himself outside, surrounded by concrete walls and little to no greenery. It was hideous, did they really make the patients come and exercise out here? A light drizzle from earlier in the day prevented the sun from even peeking out from behind the clouds, casting an eerie shadow on the yard. The lack of light just made him more sleepy. Maybe he would just sit down and rest for a while, seeing as he had to go back inside to follow the doctors around for a few more hours. He had to be well rested to learn anything from them. Spotting a bench beside the back wall, he trotted on over to it, placing his rump on the shiny wood and resting his head against the wall. He could just stay like this for a few minutes, but he mustn't close his eyes. It wouldn't be a happy day for anyone if he drifted off to sleep in the middle of work. The soft patter of rain was like a lullaby to the tired intern, and soon enough his eyes were closed, his mouth hanging slightly ajar like a puppy.
His dreams consisted of muted colors; black and gray and brown. Any shaman would predict that they had to do with how dull his life was, but Dave would disagree. His life wasn't at all dull these days, what with constant exercise while running around after the doctors and always having to be on the lookout for a potential violent outburst from one of the patients. To tell the truth, the patients scared him shitless. Just earlier today he had nearly tripped over one of them, and the conversation that ensued left him shocked and a little more than regretful about his choice to work at Lucid Manor. And little Claudias had just been a low profile! Dave couldn't even begin to imagine what trouble a high profile patient would cause. He hoped to stay out of their way at all costs. Dave wasn't exactly open to losing a limb or two, and a simple math equation (claudias x 3... or was it + 2?) told him that that was what was going to happen if he ever got in the way of one of the extreme patients.
It was pretty stupid of him to fall asleep. ------------------------------------------------------ tagged Dominic word count 457 notes it's short, i'm sorry. i hope Dave doesn't die.

Dominic didn't mind being out in the yard that day, the sun was hidden away behind the gray of rain clouds which spilled droplets like tears from heaven. He felt stronger, more powerful without the sun being presence, for him he took the greatest pleasure in rainy days. The wannabe vampire stood on the ground, his powerful and large body clad in the attire of a patient which resembled white scrubs. His head was turned upwards, allowing the rain to fall softly against his face and his raven tresses, feeling its coolness. It was a wonderful feeling which he embraced, who needed sunshine to be happy? Dominic was so absorbed by the refreshing rain that he hadn't noticed the intern who had settled on a bench to take a nap until he turned his brawny body about.
His blue-green depths took in the sight of David sleeping so soundly in front of him. He looked so innocent, so vulnerable out in the open like he was. It wasn't the best place to take a nap, especially when there was possibly people willing to make a snack out of him. Of course Dominic wouldn't mind taking a bite himself. Gracefully he stepped up to the slumbering intern, his aquamarine eyes staring down into his serene face before they traveled to his throat where his precious blood was pumping through just beneath the skin. It would be so easy to approach the man then sink his teeth into that delicate bit of his anatomy. Gently he leaned forward, his gaze studying the intern's face which he let his fingertips caress “Wake up my pet,” he whispered to his ear enticingly, his lips curved into a smirk while he waited for David to wake up. Dominic never liked things to be too easy, especially when it was fun to toy with his prey.

Something touched David's face. It was probably just the wind or something, but Dave being a light sleeper, it caused him to wake up with a start. Of course, dream-time being measured differently than real time is, anyone but Dave would perceive his eyebrows twitching into a worried expression, and his eyes only opening a full minute later. Though when he finally was awake (albeit sleepy) he stared up at the intimidating man in horror before yelping and flinching backwards; which wasn't exactly smart, as it caused him to hit his head against the cement wall. "Ha... what are you doing?" he asked, his voice trembling. His eyes narrowed a bit -- though as they were wide before, they just looked... normal, now. "And who are you?" Dave didn't exactly appreciate when some complete stranger came up to him, and he liked it even less when it happened while he was sleeping. If he didn't know any better, he'd think that he had someone been violated, though he hadn't been asleep for that long, so it couldn't have happened... but now that he thought about it, Dave didn't know exactly how long he had been asleep. Ugh, he was probably going to be late, though at the moment, there were more pressing matters at hand. Like the giant-for-a-man that had freaking touched his face.
And to top it all off, Dave's head was still throbbing from its collision with the cement wall. It didn't exactly help him think straight. He raised a hand and put it against the man's chest, pushing as hard as he could. Dave didn't see any guards around, so the man couldn't be high profile. Maybe just a medium. He certainly didn't work here, that was for sure. "Go.. away." he said irritably, his fear still making him talk more slowly. It would be ideal if the man would just shrug and walk away, and in Dave's confused and lagging mind, that was exactly what was going to happen. He didn't consider any other outcomes.

Dominic couldn't help but snicker a little as he watched the intern draw back, striking the back of his skull against the wall. The man was just too adorable not to be amusing the large mental patient. “I was only admiring you while you slept.” he replied with an impish smirk as his aquamarine depths stayed fixed on the frightened man. He couldn't help himself, he was enjoying the fear and the slight pain he had caused in the man. It was the sadist in him. On the other hand, the vampire in him was admiring David, considering what he should do while he had the chance. Should he be a good boy and leave him alone? Or should he continue this little game of cat and mouse which was proving to be so amusing? Why stop now, he was having so much fun!
“I am Dominic,” he said, introducing himself to the man who had become his prey at the moment. The wannabe vampire peered down inquisitively at the hand which were trying to push him away. Slowly he lifted his head, his bright depths peering into David's before his lips split into a toothy grin. Dominic seemed unwilling to go, reaching down to shoo the hand away. “Oh come now. Relax... relax.. if I wanted to hurt you surely I would have done it while you were sleeping.” he said as if he wanted to soothe David's fears away, though deep down this was the best entertainment he had in a long time. “I merely touched your face.... I assure your dignity is intact as much as it is,” the towering man smiled once more. “I gave you my name, a shame I don't know yours, perhaps you could give it to me?” he inquired of the intern, his head tilted to the side.

David rubbed the back of his head, still gazing at the patient with a mix of confusion and terror. If it wasn't every night that he fell asleep at work, then the chance of being attacked while he was sleeping was seemingly non-existent. But here he was, dark blue eyes looking up at some guy that was obviously bigger than him in every way. It was like a scarier version of the game Shark and Lifeguard, and David was obviously one of the swimmers. The sad thing was that he didn't see any lifeguards around to save him during this round. Really, this was just a horrible day for him, wasn't it? The guy's little laugh made him uncomfortable, and he shifted nervously, wondering if he had enough room to run away. It didn't seem so, seeing as the man was standing right in front of his legs, and as those were kind of vital to the whole running thing, it didn't look like he was leaving any time soon. Darn, and here he hoped that he would be able to get a few good hours of sleep before the morning. Dave might even miss school at the rate things were going tonight...
He sighed, accepting that there wasn't any way to get out of this situation unless Dominic let him leave. Though - pressing himself against the wall as hard as he could - that didn't mean he had to go along with whatever the patient was planning. Dave knew that he wasn't supposed to physically punch the patients, but he could scream, and someone would come... right? They had to have someone patrolling the halls at night, in case of any escaped patients, right? They hadn't exactly told him about the works of the manor, so there was a lot of stuff he didn't know. ”I w.. r”. Dammit... he couldn't even talk now. Vocal dyslexia could really be a pain in the ass sometimes. He took a deep breath, forcing his lips to move in the right way to actually produce the sounds he wanted to make, instead of substituting bunches of letters and making him sound like a young child. ”I-really-couldn't-care-less-about-your-name,” he said, his words rushing out of his mouth. He didn't even know if Dominic would understand what he was saying, his words were just so garbled.
When the large man told him to relax, it just made him tense up that much more, his face paling. If I wanted to hurt you, surely I would have done it while you were sleeping... Dave didn't like that, didn't like it at all. As soon as Dominic moved his hand towards Dave's, he dropped his hand off the man's chest, fingers now clutching the edge of the bench like his life depended on it. And hell, maybe it did. He didn't like that comment about his dignity, either. It wasn't like he was a virgin, though his attitude towards sexual contact was very much the same as if he had been one. He gazed at the ground to the right of the man's feet, uncomfortable with looking up at the eyes that were just a few shades brighter than his own. His face, however, twisted into a glare when the man suggested that Dave tell him his name. ”And why... in the world would.. I do that?” he spat, anger and fear mixing into the sentence with equal amounts.
