Adam had come down to a very serious predicament. His so-called bed buddy was now his new love. Anyone else see the massive problem? Despite everything that Alexis had said about relationships, her psycho ex, and all of the massive amounts of sex they had week in and week out, he was only falling in love with her. So far he had kept it extremely quiet and hidden deep within the depths of his mind, made it seem like he wasn't feeling anything for her at all other than the lust end of it all. That was a chore all in itself since he wasn't the best at hiding his own emotions from the horrible world that surrounded him but he was managing, somehow.
Sighing as he walked up to Alexis' apartment door, he stood there thinking if he really wanted to hang out with her at this moment. Then again he had responded to her text message saying he would be over within a half an hour and right now he was five minutes late. If Adam waited any longer he'd get a text message from her giving away the fact that he was standing outside of her door thinking over what he wanted to do. Then again he could just pass it off as he had just walked up to the door and was about to knock when she sent the message. Yeah, what a lie. Sighing he reached up and gently tapped his knuckles on the door. This was the most nerve wracking few seconds ever, especially since he was really contemplating telling her how he felt. But if he were to tell her he loved her than that would ruin his chances of keeping her as a remote friend.
(UGH sorry my muse is really dead...)

She’d spent the better half of her day off cleaning up her apartment. Not that she liked to clean or anything, but it was an intensely overdo session. With a smug grin she folded and tucked away her last bits of laundry and fell back onto her comfortable bed, relieved to have that chore out of the way. Hearing her phone go off, she read the text from Adam stating he’d be there in about 30 minutes. With a sigh, she tossed her phone on her pillow and forced herself to find the willpower to get up and take a shower.
Once she finally got all of her things together and actually got into the shower, she melted. The hot water soothed her muscles and she realized how tense she’d been. Once she was scrubbed up and clean, she rinsed off all of the soap and just relaxed under the water- completely content to just stay there until the cold water overtook the warm temperature. Unfortunately, a knock at the door came first. Dammit, she’d been so wrapped up in her shower she’d completely forgotten Adam was on his way!
Jumping out of the shower, she quickly snagged a towel from the closet and wrapped it around her, darting into the living room and straight for the door. Habitually, she glanced through the peephole and her body relaxed once she realized it was just Adam. Unlocking the several locks, she pulled open the door and moved aside so he could enter.
“Hey! Sorry, just jumped out of the shower.”
Literally, clothed in nothing but a white towel and her body and hair were still dripping, causing the floor to get a little damp. She turned and waited for him to enter before shutting the door behind him and turning to head for her bedroom.
“Make yourself at home as usual, just gonna grab something to wear real quick- not that it ever stays on for very long.”
The last part she said sarcastically, picking at him. She enjoyed joking around with him, especially since he was one of the few people who joked back. As she made her way to her bedroom, she noticed the chicken she’d set out to cook for dinner was nearly thawed out. Grocery shopping had really only become a recent thing- she figured if they were going to spend so much time at her apartment she could at least have a few things for them to eat. Not that she was cooking it though and if Adam thought she was he would have another thing coming. Alexis didn’t bother closing her bedroom door as she changed, modesty not really an issue with Adam at this point.

It didn't help one bit that Alexis answered the door soaking wet with just a towel wrapped around her. Adam's jaw nearly dropped open when he saw her but he snapped it shut, walking in with a quick shake of his head. God she was so sexy and adorable and cute and just....perfect. Her comment made him smirk while he watched her walk away, not commenting just yet. He'd let her think she was actually going to get dressed before sneaking into her room to scare her. Not that he wanted to scare her to death, but he wanted to at least make her jump.
Taking a deep breath he kicked his shoes off at the door before walking over to her room. "And what makes you think you should get dressed?" he smirked, wrapping his arms around her waist while pressing his chest to her back. Adam placed soft kisses on her shoulder, completely content with just holding onto her even if it wasn't one of her favorite things. "It would only make it easier." He couldn't help but laugh a bit, letting her go before grabbing hold of her again, just wanting to mess with her. "I honestly didn't come over for sex, just needed some sexy company," he winked, stealing a kiss from her before actually letting her go this time. Maybe he was being a little too lovey for her, he didn't know and he wouldn't stop unless she told him to.
"I saw chicken on the counter, do you want me to make it?" He asked while heading out of her room so she could get dressed, stopping to glance out her. "Or am I buying us Chinese food or...something?" He shook his head as he failed to finish his sentence, raising his eyebrows in an attempt to make an adorable face. Then again, he was just adorable to begin with so it didn't take much to be even more adorable.

Alexis was brushing her hair out when she felt someone wrap their arms around her. Even though she knew it was Adam she tensed for a moment. But it was a fleeting moment and she doubted he even noticed, and if he did he’d probably just write it off as him surprising her. With an equally promiscuous smirk, she closed her eyes as he pressed his chest to her back, relishing the warmth from another human being.
“Hmmm. I don’t know. If you keep doing this you might change my mind. Clothes could be overrated.”
The kisses he placed on her shoulder were soft and she found herself leaning into him more, a slight disappointment settling in when he let her go. Quickly though, he amended that by giving her a kiss. Something seemed off about Adam today, though she couldn’t quite place it. And his last comment about only needing some sexy company confused her a little, but she just smiled and went with it.
“Sex comes with sexy company. You should know that by now.”
She listened as he mentioned the chicken, rummaging through her drawers lazily. In all honestly, she’d pulled the chicken out earlier but now didn’t really feel like having it, but Chinese didn’t sound any better. No, what Alexis could go for was a good burger. Something with some beef in it would be good. She didn’t answer him immediately, instead got dressed. Alexis chose some of her darker jeans and a white halter-top. She ran her fingers through her hair a few good times with used a comb to finish brushing it out. Turning off the light, she existed her room and went into the kitchen to grab a bottle of water out of the refrigerator.
“If you feel like having chicken that’s fine or we can eat out. You want to maybe go out afterwards? I took the day off tomorrow because the alarm company is coming by to give me a real estimate. If you gotta work though, I understand. Just thought it sounded like fun.”
She winked at him playfully at the word fun before sipping some of her water down.

Adam didn't want to completely hide his feelings for her but in order to keep her as a friend he had to. Most of the time he would at least admit to the person his feelings but not this time. Adam cared too much about keeping Lexi as a friend of some sort that he wasn't going to destroy it anytime soon. It was heart breaking, rather annoying too, but he would fight his way through it. Once he had kissed her he noticed the little bit of confusion on her face but he ignored it, smirking. Knowing Alex, she'd figure him out pretty quickly since he was going to slip up at some point in the next few weeks so Adam just had to wait for that time to come.
"I don't have to be in until tomorrow night. I'm only working four hours so we can either go out or spend the night in and really have some fun," he smirked and suggestively raised his eyebrows, chuckling. Rubbing his arm he wasn't really in the mood for chicken after all of the chicken sandwiches he had been eating at work so he'd find them something else. "How about something so damned greasy it's disgusting? Like...a cheeseburger or a cheesesteak. Something that doesn't involve chicken!" He exclaimed suddenly, sitting on her couch. He shimmied a bit so he could slump down and be a complete bum on the couch. "Or we could do both of those things. Go out and screw around the rest of the night." He heaved a shrug since his position on the couch was rather awkward with his head tucked against his chest and his body at a sharp angle. It was just as comfortable to him as laying down.

Alexis hopped up onto her kitchen counter and had a seat there, drinking on her bottle of smart water as she waited for his response. The more the thought about it, the chicken sounded worse and worse while the burger sounded better and better. She was glad that he didn’t have to go in until late the next night, which meant that even if they decided to not go out, there wouldn’t be a rush on getting things done. Not that anything really needed to be done but it was nice to know nonetheless. Alexis couldn’t help but gently laugh at him when he suddenly exclaimed his disapproval for chicken. Hopping off the counter, she grabbed the bag and tossed it into her refrigerator once more.
“I kind of feel like staying in tonight but some greasy burgers sound delicious. I have some hamburger meat in the fridge if you want to give it a go. Or we can order some take out and bring it back? If we decide we want to go out later, it’s not like we can’t.”
As she talked she moseyed over to where he was on her couch and sat down on top of the coffee table in front of him. She tilted her head and looked at him thoughtfully, wondering what was going through his mind. For some reason, she couldn’t shake the fact that something seemed a little off. And so far she’d heard far less sarcastic comments then she was used to. Hearing her phone go off, she stood up and walked over to the counter to pick it up. Annoyance flashed across her face as she read it, perturbed at how Calvin could even have her phone number. Lexi, why must you insist on upsetting me? Without hesitating she flipped her phone to silent and dropped it back down on the counter. Now let the dumb thing try to interrupt her fun time again.
She chucked the rest of her water into the trashcan and walked back to the fridge, pulling out a bottle of vodka from her freezer. Normally she didn’t drink right when someone came to visit her, but now she was annoyed. Once she’d mixed it with her usual choice of ginger ale and grenadine, she glanced back at Adam and a relaxed smile.
“Want anything?”

"If I make them they won't be greasy sooo...." he stopped to think of a place to order the burgers from. "What if we just ordered stuff to go from Barnaby's or something?" Barnaby's was up the street, cheap, good bar food and it was usually greasy. When she sat down in front of her he nudged her with his foot, smirking a bit. If he wasn't being sarcastic he was being annoying, and being annoying was something he had a talent for. It was when he phone went off that he could really be annoying, smirking again. "If that's asshole just tell him we're having some hot and wild sex. If need be we can call him while I bang your brains out." There was the sarcastic Adam that everyone knew and loved.
Adam didn't know if it was her annoying ex but by the sound of her tossing it on the counter it was. Shrugging while he adjusted his basketball shorts so they sat right on his hips, he sat up to turn to look at her when she asked if he wanted anything. "Does you count?" He smirked again, shaking his head while sitting normally once more. "Nah, I'm alright. Plus, if we're gonna go get food one of us has to be at least somewhat sober to drive." Giving a light shrug he slumped back down into the couch, sighing lightly. He honestly didn't want to go back to the asylum tomorrow afternoon but he agreed to it plus it was overtime. It was only four hours out of his day and it was after everyone was pretty much in bed anyway.
"So what did the annoying one want this time? He seems to bother you in the most unlucky moments of the day," he asked carefully, not knowing if she was actually going to talk to him about it or not. Adam had learned pretty quickly that the subject of the evil man was a bad one with Alexis and she didn't really talk about it. Adam had made a promise to her that he would protect her if he ever tried to get at them or her. It was a promise he had made the first time they hung out, and he was still willing to hold it even if they stopped talking.

“Barnabys sounds great.”
It didn’t take her long to down her first drink and she was already halfway through her second glass when he made a certain comment that caused her to tense. Just tell him we’re having some hot and wild sex. If need be we can call him while I bang your brains out. Alexis stood sort of frozen, nearly dropping her drink. While she was able to catch it, she hadn’t been able to stop the drink from switching out and onto her clean white halter-top.
“Dammit.”
Grabbing a hand towel from one of the drawers, she threw it on the floor to soak up the mess she’d made. Hopefully Adam wouldn’t notice, but he seemed to notice everything she didn’t want him to. That was probably the most annoying thing about him. But if he did notice maybe he’d just contribute it to her clumsiness. His comment had both surprised her and terrified her. The words themselves reminded her of how her ex used to talk to her when he forced her to have intercourse with his friends. While she knew Adam wasn’t like Calvin, the words still visibly made her cringe. And that royally pissed her off because normally she would have just shot some sarcastic remark back at him, but because her thought process was dealing with Calvin she’d panicked. She finished off the rest of her drink and started pouring another one while shaking her head. If she kept this up she’d be drunk off her ass in minutes. Thankfully when she spoke once more, her voice had regained its normal calm, cool, and collected tone.
“What? Oh…nothing. He’s just harassing me as usual. And yeah, definitely worst timing ever.”
Once more she dodged the bullet and acted nonchalant about the whole psycho ex thing. Lex didn’t want Adam thinking she couldn’t handle her own problems and duce out on her. The sex was too good. She literally downed her entire drink and placed the empty cup in the sink, heading towards her bedroom to change shirts once more. Deciding on a simple blue Ron’s Surf shop t’shirt, she came back out and tossed a sultry smile towards Adam.
“You ready?”

Barnaby's was such a great place to eat that Adam usually ate there if he didn't feel like cooking. Granted, it was farther from his condo but hell, he could deal with it. It was also an awesome place to get some greasy hamburgers pre-getting drunk. Of course, he wouldn't be getting drunk but he had no doubt Alex would be having some drinks before and after anything. Hearing her say dammit he smirked, not turning around to say his little sarcastic comment. "Lex, mouth. Drinks go to mouth," He snickered before flat out snorting at his quip. Sometimes he couldn't help but laugh at himself with his sarcastic comments. There were times he shouldn't have said them but a lot of the time they fit the situation perfectly, especially in this one where she dropped her drink and down the front of her now that he saw her.
Shaking his head he just relaxed into the couch while she went to change her shirt. Adam was lost in his iPhone when she came back out, her asking if he was ready snapped him out of checking his email. "Yeah, Ron Jon," he smirked, standing up and grabbing his keys in one motion. Pulling his sneakers on he stretched, glancing at her. "I think you got some of your drink in your hair. The tips of your hair are a little wet." He reached up to tug on the wet locks of hair, shrugging while heading out into the hallway. As soon as her door was locked her walked with her out to his car, glad he had parked in the shade where he didn't have to worry about it getting too hot. Black cars meant hot cars, and his camaro was no exception to that. Sighing while he waited for the air conditioning to kick in, he finally pulled out of her apartment complex to go to Barnaby's. "Shit. Look in the glove compartment to see if my wallet is in there. I can't remember if I put it in the trunk or in there." Adam had a problem with loosing his wallet in his own car and it was a common thing for him to have to dig into his full trunk for.

Alexis followed him out of the house with her silenced phone in hand, ignoring all of his snarky comments. Usually she was in a better mood, but the way her phone kept flashing notifications was just pissing her off. One they were downstairs and into his car, she leaned back and placed her seat belt on. Alex was just thankful she didn’t have to drive, especially since she would already feel the previous downed drinks starting to relax her. While she knew she was a bit tipsy, it would take a few more to make her drunk. Fingers twirled the bottom of her hair for a moment, realizing it was actually wet, as Adam had pointed out before. Oh well, she’d have to see about it later. With a slight nod at his request, she leaned forever and pulled open the glove compartment. She didn’t see a wallet anywhere in there though, so turned to look at him puzzled.
“Uh, I don’t see it Adam, but why the hell would your wallet be in the trunk?”
The air-conditioner was finally starting to cool the car off and the drop of temperature was a welcome change. The alcohol was making her body fill a bit on the warm side, something she didn’t really like or appreciate. Glancing down at her phone, she noticed the green flashing light had returned in the corner so she flipped it open. With a small sigh, the slipped the phone back shut and shoved it down into her pocket. A look of annoyance flickered across her face for a moment, before vanishing behind a façade. She needed more alcohol. Well she didn’t really need more alcohol, but she damn sure wanted some more.
“I guess we can look for it when we get to Barnaby’s.”

Adam sighed when she mentioned it wasn't in the glove compartment and shook his head. "I went to the gym so it's probably in my bag in my trunk," he shrugged, stopping at a red light. The heat was bothering him so when the air finally cooled down in the car it was a welcomed relief. This light was notorious for staying red forever so he just sat back in his seat, resting his hands on his legs. Her annoyance was obvious when she read her phone so he knew exactly who it was and exactly what they were saying. Lex's ex really annoyed the hell out of him because the guy was obsessed with her. Not just obsessed, he was constantly harassing Alexis and it was something he really didn't want to deal with since it made Alexis so grumpy.
"Turn your phone off," he suggested softly, shaking his head. "Lex, I hate seeing how pissed off you get with this guy and I know you hate talking about it but...he's not worth all of the trouble he's causing...you're too damned sweet to deal with his shit." Adam shook his head while he drove, now getting more and more annoyed with this guy. Alexis was too sweet and too awesome of a girl to have to deal with a guy who was obsessed with her. Granted, Adam was always around her but he wasn't texting or calling her every five minutes. He needed a break from Alexis every once in awhile so they didn't fight or what not. Then again, they weren't a couple they were just using each other in the bedroom and then being friends outside of there. It was nice, until this guy came into the picture.
Pulling up to Barnaby's he parked out front of the door, looking at her for a moment before hopping out. He always tried to make her feel better and make it so she didn't have to deal with her ex but it never seemed to work. Maybe taking her phone and shutting it off would make it better. Of course, Alexis might get mad at him for doing that but she'd get over it.

Alexis looked up at him in surprise when he spoke about her phone. Did he miss nothing? His words softened her annoyance though and she pulled her phone out of her pocket once more, pressing down on the OFF button. Adam was right though; turning off her phone completely would make the night go by much easier. Anything dealing with Calvin tended to put her in an off mood and she didn’t want to piss Adam off by being some stupid whiny bitch.
“He’s not worth anything. I wish he would just go away.”
That much was true. Once her phone had completely shut off she contemplated what to do with it. She would probably need to get her number changed at some point, maybe tomorrow once the alarm guys left? Soft green eyes rose to look at him casually as they got out of the car. Suddenly Alexis felt very appreciative of Adam. There was nothing making him be her friend through all of this, he’d just stepped up to it. Nothing had forced him to get out of his car that night at the bar when she’d found the first note, but he had. A small blush rose to her cheeks, induced from actual humiliation and a little from the alcohol.
“Adam…Thank you.”
She moved around the car to stand in front of him before they could walk into Barnaby’s. Alex ran her fingers through her hair and bit on her bottom lip as she contemplated hugging him. There was a split moment where she almost couldn’t go through with the endearing gesture, and it was probably the alcohol more then her own will that pushed her to do it. With a sheepish smile, she wrapped her arms around him in a hug before dropping her phone into his pocket and taking a step back.
“If you hold onto it, then I can’t be tempted to turn it on, right?”
She took a moment to just look up at him, thankful now more then ever for his friendship. He really had been a good friend to her, probably one of the few she had in this town. Not really wanting to wait around for any awkwardness that might come up, she turned on her heel and headed inside- stopping at the door to hold it open for him. A small smirk played on her lips as she felt her good mood returning,
“You coming slow poke?”

"You're right, he's not worth anything but he's not going away until he's made to go away," he said lightly with a sigh, shaking his head. As much as Adam hated this guy he wouldn't go and seriously hurt him because of Alexis asking him not too. Shaking his head at that thought he got out, digging into his trunk to find his wallet. It took a few minutes of digging but he managed to find it, placing it in his pocket where he wouldn't lose it. He looked down at Alexis when she said Thank you and gave her a soft smile, shrugging. "No problem. I think I'd be a pretty huge dick to just ignore the fact that there is some asshole stalking you and all." That was the truth because if he didn't have some kind of concern for her he'd be selfish and completely ignorant.
"I'll hold onto it. The longer it's off, the more pissed he'll get but he'll leave you alone. Especially if I'm there, I am trained to kill people," he smirked, shaking his head. He put the phone in his pocket and looked up to watch her, hearing her ask if he was coming. "Yeah yeah." He hit the lock button on his car and walked after her, catching up in a few long strides. Being around Alexis was getting harder to not tell her how he felt, especially when they were hanging out like this. It became even harder when they had a little fun because, well, he was a little too emotional sometimes. Whatever the case, he would do his best not to tell her so there weren't any problems between them.
Sighing as they walked into Barnaby's he glanced over the menu even though he knew exactly what they had and what he was getting. "What do you want? I'll pay," he said gently, glancing at her softly and then to the tender. "I want a uhm...a bacon cheeseburger with a side of fries. I dunno if we're gonna eat here or not," Adam didn't care either way if they ate there or went back to the house to eat. It was a bit safer than the pub since they were inside of her apartment where the ass couldn't get to them. Plus, they didn't have to wait if they decided they wanted to get negged. Shaking his head at his thoughts he stood up straight to stretch his back before sitting on a bar stool, waiting for Alexis to order.

It was kind of funny in a way. Even though her ex had spent a majority of the day driving her crazy and putting her in a bad mood, all she had to do was hang out with Adam for an hour or so and instantly she felt better. Probably because of the mood he seemed to give off. To her, Adam always seemed like he was having a good time, except when he was bored out of his mind. A small smile graced her features as she stood next to him, looking over the menu as well.
“Ok. Mmm. Oh that sounds yummy, I think I’ll have the same. We can just get it to go if you want Adam.”
She didn’t care either way. Seeing someone over on the wall she knew, she waved. Even though Alex couldn’t remember where’d she’d met him before, she could guess what they’d done and how their meeting had probably ended. With a bit of a sigh, she turned to look back at Adam. It was odd how much they seemed to hang out lately, but she felt comfortable around him- because he was looking for the same thing she was and that was a good time.
“I’ll wait for you outside ok? It’s kind of stuffy in here.”
The truth of the matter was she just wanted to breathe in some fresh air and relax for a moment. With a quick stretch, she moseyed back out the door. It shouldn’t take too long for the meal to cook anyway, or at least she hoped. Part of her was kind of itching to get back home. Exiting the doors, she leaned back against the building outside, one foot resting on the side of the pub. Lex was glad she’d given her phone over to Adam, enjoying the peace not having a phone could offer. Something caught her attention out of the corner of her eye and she thought she saw someone around Adam’s car. But once she reached it, she realized there was nothing there. Alexis ran her fingers through her hair, looking back at the pub, she really needed to try and get better sleeping patterns.

"To go then, please," he said gently, not really feeling the whole eating at the pub vibe today. Barnaby's was a great place to chill out but the more drunk crowd would be working their way in and Adam didn't feel like being round all of them. He could only handle drunks for so long before he got so annoyed with them that he would just leave or hide in a corner. Taking a deep breath, he nodded at Alex when she said she was heading outside before settling to just drinking a beer. Naturally he made some small talk with the bar tender, a new guy that was for sure, so he might as well get to know him. A few people he knew wandered in, talking to him about whatever came to mind. This at least passed the time while he waited for their food.
Sitting there he started to realize just how much time he had really been spending with Alex over the past few weeks. Just about everyday he was doing something with her, if not every other day and they were making one another happy. He shook his head as he realized he knew why he had started to fall for Alex. There were a lot of realizations hitting his brain at that given moment, a lot more than he wanted to. So when the food was handed to him it was a relief, he could stop being in his head and just go hang out with Alex for the rest of the night. That, of course, would lead to some sexy time but maybe, for once, it wouldn't. It hadn't been too bad the first time they had just wound up falling asleep watching a movie and it wasn't awkward the next morning. Well, it was a little awkward but not that bad.
Heading outside he noticed Alex over by the car so he walked over, putting their food in the back seat. "All set to go?...You ok?" he asked with a quirk of his head, not sure what he was seeing written on her face. Whatever it was maybe she'd tell him what was bugging her eventually. The food was making his mouth water it smelled so good, plus his stomach was growling louder and louder with each passing moment. "I can't believe I'm as hungry as I am. I don't know why, either, I ate before I went to the gym." He shook his head gently, stopping at the light before her apartment.
