'' take your past and burn it up and let '' it go , c a r r y on i'm s t r o n g e r than you'll ever know Was it required that food served in any sort of government funded facility taste like complete garbage? Schools, prisons, hospitals and even here at Lucid Manor it all tasted like bland crap tossed on a tray for their pleasure. Yeah, right. Hand maneuvered fork through the lumpy mess known as mash potatoes and dragged it around forcing it to mingle with dried up remnants of green beans and a foul smelling lump they swore up and down was meat loaf. This wasn't even home cooking, not even close but as always as soon as thought probed his mind his stomach growled out as he remembered his mother's meatloaf and apple pie's. Oh what he would do for just a bite of that now.
Forcefully he shoved the tray away from himself while slouching his swimmer's build over the table. If they didn't torture you here there sure as heck made it clear they would starve you, no one would willingly eat the sewer scraps they called a good nutritious meal. Instead of dwelling upon it though metallic gray eyes skimmed over the cafeteria at all the others, junkies, killers and just straight up nut jobs. They all sat some ate mechanically, doped up movements sluggish and not really here while others scarfed it down as if it would be the last meal they ate. No one here was alike, all so different and unlikely to come across but forcefully made to deal with dwelling in the same building.
Guards stood tall and bulky against walls as if permanent unmoving fixtures but Nathanial himself knew they could, and would move if need be. He had felt the force of them the first day he had been taken within these doors by his mother and commanding officer, once they had left and he had been shown to his room it all hit. Explosions, the screams of the dying and hurt, blood and gore sprinkling the earth and just the heart stopping sounds of gun fire prattling off. That had given the whole floor a shock as he apparently ran about yelling cover fire and ducking behind furniture until he final ran into a nurse knocking her over and snapping him back to as pills skittered over the floor and she yelled for guards. That's when he felt their force and menace, two dragging him up on feet and back to bedroom with no gentleness within their vice like grips.
But today was a good day, he was normal if not just a touch depressed as nightmares stripped him of sleep the night before, pills were not shoved at him yet for they had to figure out dosages and have it all approve before regimen would start. For now he was required to be good and be in group therapy while in down time he could do as he pleased for Low profile patients were not paid any heed.
"All of us just cattle being tagged and shoved off to slaughter."
His soft whisper issued from lips as nurses scurried into break room avoiding eye contact with anyone admitted. They were nothing but slabs of meat seen as their profile and nothing more, nameless to most and lab rats to some.

i think the spotlight always gives you stage fright †WISH THIS ALL WOULD END RIGHT†
†STOP MAKING MY HEAD SPIN† it's over but what if we just pretend
Jamie wasn't exactly thrilled by the fact that the food here was less than thrilling. Half the time the potatoes were disgustingly lumpy, the meat loaf and other meats were cold or not cooked and then there was the case of the uncooked veggies that tasted like the ass end of a cafeteria table. Even the asylum back at home had delicious food for the patients and that was government funded. Then again, Ireland was a lot better as far as being well off on their feet than the states. What did she expect, honestly? These people were the rejects of the world, her people were. Some were murderers, others druggies, and then there were those who were just like Jamie. She wasn't exactly as screwed up as the others, she had one disorder that technically was there since she was little but the others were all caused by her stress disorder. The car accident, the screaming, the dead silence...someone dropping their tray made her snap back into reality, heading towards the front of the cafeteria.
The one thing she could say was they had good desserts so that's what she would eat. That and whatever she had lifted from one of the nurses' offices when she went exploring. They always had good food hidden in their drawers so whenever they went on break, Jamie went snooping. Once she had her jello, ice cream, cake and something that resembled pudding, she had to find somewhere to sit. Everyone was sitting one to a table so it was who did she want to attempt to get to know today even though that didn't always work. See, people tended to be over drugged here so they were sluggish, slow, and downright dumb. Already over half of the kids in this cafeteria were rather drugged up so they weren't going to interest the little Irishwoman. Almost twenty and she was in a nut house with a bunch of teenagers. Well, maybe not all of them were teens but most of them were screwed up teenagers.
Suddenly she spotted a really cute guy sitting by himself kind of just watching those around him. Obviously a new kid, and possibly a low profile, but damn he was cute. Not drugged up either, at least it didn't look that way. At least someone was going to entertain her for a little while and that was good for everyone. A bored Jamie was a dangerous Jamie. Gently she slid her tray across the table while she sat down across from him, quirking her head with a light smile. "I'm Jamie, and yeah...we're pretty much cattle being poked in the ass with a cattle stick," she smirked, having heard that little comment. Anyone who wasn't drugged up would have commented but being as they were probably the only two who weren't hyped up on drugs. Digging into the pocket of her hoodie, she produced two sandwiches and offered him one. "You'll learn to wait for the nurses to go on break and then you can steal their lunches. There's one who always has two sandwiches, she used to carry three but I think she's trying to lose weight..." Hopefully he would actually talk to her and not be overly shy, after all, Jamie was stepping way outside of her comfort zone here.

'' take your past and burn it up and let '' it go , c a r r y on i'm s t r o n g e r than you'll ever know Murmuring voices, hints of screams deeper within walls and just the sounds of everyday life wrapped around him as head dropped onto crossed arms and he cursed inwardly. How could anyone get used to this shit? He was a god damned war hero and instead of coming home to be celebrated and relaxing he instead was thrown into a building full of people who should be in prison!
But he had killed people, that thought itself sent him back to the war, murky air coated with dust that seeped into your pores and coated your tongue so it felt as if you were dying after three weeks. Heat penetrating and curling its claws into full marine fatigues with no relent, then the sounds of bombs and bullets penetrating flesh with agonized moans wheedling their way into hearing through the mess. He had killed many, C4, bombs, grenades and bullets from his own hands pulverizing the terrorists who had defiled their country. Those terrorists now had Americans defiling their homes and ways of life an as they had slaughtered our innocents their own were beaten and murdered ruthlessly also. so many fell at his hands that even now he couldn't decipher wrong from right, but should he be in prison? Or was he really like the rest locked up here because he was too dangerous for a place like that?
Lilting vocals tore him from the ass murders and casualties along with his thoughts, elbows shoved shoulders upward while head shifted back to erect positioning. Charming and friendly smile pulled his lips and crinkled eyes as he processed the words he had missed and looked over the beautiful girl in front of him.
"Nathanial. Most call me Nathan or Nate though. Lovely to meet you Jamie."
Smile turned up quite a few watts into a grin as she began to explain ways of surviving here, snatching nurses lunches. damn good idea really, he stowed that idea away. Sure he was a good old boy but still, if he could kill people because his country thought it was a good thing then the politics in here had to be right.
Hand reached out gratefully and snagged the sandwhich while head tipped to the side in thanks.
"Thanks hun, i woulda' killed for something like this in about another two days. The shit they serve here my dog wouldn't even touch..."
words trailed off as he thought about Buddy, the classic golden retriever at his mother's house. that boy had been his pride and joy along with constant companion. Word had come that as soon as he had left for war the dog had passed. His mother guilted him by saying it was heartbreak, the fact he had abandoned him and his family. That had been an awful move, damn near broke him down to tears and immediately his mother apologized profusely saying she was just upset. Nothing like making him feel like he had destroyed everything right? As if PTSD wasn't enough.
"I like Post Traumatic stress disorder, depression, insomnia and long walks on the beach. Sometimes i get my rocks off by eating home made apple pie.... oh shit. Now i'm craving it."
He rattled it all of with a chuckle. He could laugh at his disorders, and knew well enough to make them known or some patients got nervous and twitchy. So be it, he had nothing to hide. He was a god damn low profile, not exactly your high class nutter.

"Nice to meet you too, Nate," she smiled softly, actually giving a genuine smile for once. Despite being in a huge building filled to the brim with people there weren't a lot of people to talk to without having to deal with their weird...things. One kid here had a tic that made him curse all the time so talking to him was impossible. Others were obsessed with murdering or downright weird. Jamie's problems all stemmed from one thing so it wasn't difficult to talk to her. Her tic was different so she could talk to others like a normal person would, her tic mainly came out at night in her sleep. "Oh yes, the stuff here is disgusting. I swear they dig it out of the bottom of the barrel or dumpster just to prove they don't care."
Jamie shook her head slowly, glad he took the sandwich since she would definitely not be able to eat it. She could pound back food when she wanted to but right now she was so stocked up on candy she wasn't all that hungry. "Also, I have a ton of candy bars. I mean like Hershey's bars, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, Reese' Fast Breaks among other stuff. I make sure to stock pile everyday," she smiled with a soft chuckle, giggling when he talking about his disorders lightly. It was refreshing to laugh and talk with someone who was...normal. And they shared a disorder in common but it wasn't like that was really significant.
"]I like PTSD, too, Nightmare disorder, Tics caused by said nightmares, Oppositional Defiant Disorder and I really, really, really love swimming in the ocean." Just because she had a fourth thing wrong with her she became a medium profile patient. At least, that's what she thought but it really was because of how bad her nightmares could be. There were times that she refused to sleep because they were so bad and then her arms got so raw from scratching at them she had to wear long-sleeved shirts or wraps around her arms. It was awful, Jamie wished she didn't have the problems but she did.
Biting her lip gently, she quirked her head and said, "If you don't mind my asking...what caused your Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder? I haven't really talked to anyone else who has it..." It was the truth, she hadn't since there weren't all that many people who actually had PTSD that didn't have something worse tacked on as well.

'' take your past and burn it up and let '' it go , c a r r y on i'm s t r o n g e r than you'll ever know He munched silently on his new found sandwich as she began talking, s small here and a nod there for he wasn't the rude type to talk with his mouthful. When he was younger his father would crack both his brother and himself across the back of the head if they even attempted to do something like that.
Another grin that reached up into his eyes spread across his face though when she giggled, it was cute and something not heard often within this prison. That sound itself made him feel warm inside as if he had done something right but when she had played on him explaining his disorders and did the same he choked on a laugh and had to hurry up and swallow.
Inhaling the last of the delicious break from muck served within institution Nathan leaned back within chair, arms folding behind his back making him the perfect picture of a content being. His interest was peeked by the girl, a pretty face locked up with a bunch o sad losers. Then to top it all off they had something in common, oh no not the usual favorite color or meal but a disorder.
"I'm a former Marine, fought in Iraq and came out a mess really. Constant insomnia from re living it all, delusions of being back there instead o the here and now. Once the Marine Corps hears wind you are constantly reliving the deaths of your friends and foes instead of relaxing in your time off they immediately discharge you and send you here..."
Words trailed off as arms fell forward from prior positioning and stray fingers glided across the burns scattered over most of his right arm unconsciously. Eyes held that far off glazed look momentarily for speaking about it always sent him back, bu it was short lived and he was able to break away and shake it off, attention fully back onto her.
How bout you?

As polite as he was it made Jamie feel a little less upper class as she had when she was in Ireland. Oh Ireland, what she would do to just be in an asylum there where it was at least beautiful. Here there was nothing pretty for her to lay eyes on, at least nothing that was naturally there already. At least at home there were trees, castles, native bushes and such that could keep her entertained. Asylum's over there were a little more...financed than the ones here and the government actually took care of their patients. When she was there she had been able to go outside and relax in the grass, do what she wanted. Here it was a totally different story of being locked inside all day unless she was given specific permission too. And that NEVER happened.
Having to actually think about her accident and then explain it to Nathan wasn't comforting. It was her own damned fault for asking the question so she had to expect to answer. Taking in a deep breath it took a minute for her to finally get the courage up to talk about it. "Well, when I was thirteen my mother, my brother and I were in a car accident that killed my mother and almost killed me and my brother. I spent over a year in rehab and all that crap, and the accident gave me nightmares so I kind of relive it all every night and then some," she said it in a hushed tone but it was so quiet in the cafeteria there was no way he didn't hear her. Jamie was naturally soft spoken anyway, but this time she spoke softer than that.
Shaking her head at those thoughts she sat back, having finished her sandwich and wasn't hungry anymore. It really wasn't a memory she wished to remember but it seemed everyday someone was trying to get her to think about it. If it wasn't a doctor it was another patient or a nurse who was bugging to know what was wrong with her. At least now that she was talking to Nathan he probably wouldn't judge her, wouldn't compare their experiences that caused the disorder. In her mind his was way worse, he had to see his friends shot and killed everyday or someone killed everyday. It wasn't something she would argue. Thinking about it, she smirked as she set a few candy bars on the table if he wanted one saying, "Oh I do like me a man in a uniform." She made a purring noise which almost failed since she couldn't really roll her tongue well despite speaking Gaelic fluently. "What made you decide to go into the army, though? Was it like, an ultimatum or you just wanted to?"

With his story out in the open he sighed and awaited hers as she took a few moments to either gather her courage or thoughts. Mouth began to open to try and assure her it was ok and she didn't have to explain but before even the start of words came out she began her own story. Sculpted shoulders leaned forward as elbows propped up on table surface, attempting to lean a tad closer in attempt to catch every softly spoken word.
A car accident, devastating and awful. He could connect with this girl and the pain she felt but he let it be, he didn't prod an ask questions or make any comment on story. There was no need, they both suffered from past events and dwelling on them did nothing but make it all worse, for him at least
But once her tale had been spun she quickly resorted to comic relief which caused a smile to pull upon his cheek bones and only when she pulled out a pathetic attempt at a growl did he out right laugh. It was a real laugh, not one of those chuckles or snickers but something that reverberated from depths of stomach and rolled out with out any stopping it.
If i gave you five buck would you please make that sound once more?
Laughter had subsided but charming and amused smile remained in place as hand slid out and caught a snickers bar within his palm that she had offered up. Chair shoved back slightly while feet jumped up onto table and reclined back within seat upon two legs. Lunch was over, no need for manners. Yes he was in the company of a young lady but she was finished eating also. So what did it matter? his sneakers were clean.
"My father was a marine, he died on duty. I kind of lost it and decided i was going in and killing all of them bastards that took him away from my family and I. Split second decision that pretty much ruined my life. My family now is scared of me or hates me, i was stabbed, in explosions, etc. So i guess i joined because or rage... and stupidity."
Words were more hushed than his usual playful banter from earlier. He could talk about it but not many actually asked in reality, most assumed why he went and never dug down to the deeper resolutions. It was sad and unpleasant but he gave this girl brownie points for asking and also explaining her own issues.

i think the spotlight always gives you stage fright †WISH THIS ALL WOULD END RIGHT†
†STOP MAKING MY HEAD SPIN† it's over but what if we just pretend
It had become an apparent thing in America that those who entered the military regretted their decision most of the time. In Ireland it was totally different considering the only army to enter was the Brits military in Northern Ireland. Jamie wasn't from Northern Ireland, she was from Ireland so there really wasn't much experience in her life with the military men and women. Although, there were a lot of people in the asylum's over here that were from the military and had a lot of problems mentally. She had heard someone mention a big military hospital that specialized in the PTSD deals and such but they were so overrun by people they had to send their soldiers elsewhere. Jamie couldn't imagine what that was like, living in an overcrowded hospital. She was living in an overcrowded prison.
She laughed along with him at her failure to roll her tongue, not being able to contain herself. Even when he offered to give her five bucks she fell into laughing again, shaking her head. "I can try, I never learned how to roll my tongue," she giggled, shrugging a bit. She had to wait until she wasn't laughing to attempt the sound again, failing again. It was frustrating when she tried to learn Spanish because she couldn't do that tongue roll but thankfully she didn't have to learn it anymore. At least when she was in school she had to take two years of another language and then she dropped out so she didn't have to take it anymore. Jamie would have failed it anyway with her lack of skills at speaking the language. She could speak German and Gaelic fluently but nothing else worked.
Listening to him talk about why he decided to join the marines made her smile a bit, he was similar to her in the revenge department. "I think you have a ton of balls for joining even if it was for revenge. If there was a way for me to get revenge against mother nature and a car for my mom dying, I'd so do it. I don't think a car will feel anything if I beat it up," she shrugged a bit as she spoke, sighing. Oh how Jamie wished she could get revenge for her mother dying but she would never see the day when it would happen. It was a freak accident that she had to deal with for the rest of her life. Of course, who was to say she'd ever walk out the front doors of this place and never come back? Jamie didn't know if she would be able to adjust to normal life, if she'd go back to Ireland or stay here in the states, what kind of job she would work, and so on. Shaking her head at her thoughts, she had to forget them because as of right now she wasn't leaving the asylum in the near future.
"It's nice to talk to someone who isn't imagining you as an alien or telling you how fucked up you are," she smiled a bit and looked up at him, leaning forward onto her arms. At least she was kind of making a friend, in some weird way, since she never really made friends in this place. All of the 'friends' she had made either were sent away to more secure facilities, passed away or were released.

'' take your past and burn it up and let '' it go , c a r r y on i'm s t r o n g e r than you'll ever know
He was borderline in hysterics as she indulged him and began trying to roll her tongue some more and even with something so simple it was beyond great. No one laughed in here, no one had real conversations and no one took a minute to try and understand anyone. So just this brief moment of what it was like on the outside was pure bliss and a release.
He listened intently to her, attention on no one else but the pretty bird before him and as she cracked about getting revenge on a car another ear splitting grin lifted features along with a chuckle. Yeah he had jumped the gun and run off with out thinking but if he did it all over again he most likely wouldn't change it besides ending up here. He had followed in his beloved father's foot steps and cared nothing more, what ever made him the image of his father he couldn't be any prouder, his father was a good man and he had a drive to be like him in any way shape or form.
As thoughts drifted to it he glanced down into his reflection within depths of apple juice, it reflected a golden version of his father when he was young, the perfect image of his mother and father when they first met. This made him glow momentarily while he snapped gaze back to her, smile widening even more.
"I'd pay to see you try and beat up a car hunny, that would be priceless."
He didn't bother saying the usual "sorry for your loss" or any pleasantries like that. He honestly found them to be rude and intrusive and when people had done that to him when he lost his father he would have to walk away so he didn't snap and deck them. Nathanial hurting people? Rare but something that would happen if pushed.
"Shit...I mean shoot. Excuse my language. But i can't even find anyone to hold a conversation with. I've tried and either gotten drooled on or screamed at like i'm a murderer." He shook his head with amusement while chair tilted back and forth on hind legs, a permanent smiling creasing his features. "People like you and i shouldn't be here but society hates those they can't understand. and honestly i'm wondering if anyone even gets released from this joint, the staff seems off to me."
With that gaze jumped from the security to doctors filing in the staff lounge. There was no sympathy within them, or understanding. He had had a few sessions already and they all looked through him and not at him while scribbling nonsense down in their files and just made those irritating sounds that made you wonder if they were even listening.
"You still in contact with your brother at least? Mine refuses to speak to me and my mother is a wreck so nothing from her. Makes me wonder if having someone out there to talk to makes this all any easier."

†STOP MAKING MY HEAD SPIN† it's over but what if we just pretend
When it came to making noises Jamie failed at life but at least it was entertaining for Nate over here. His laughing was refreshing to hear, at least someone was honestly laughing and talking with her. "Hey! I'm a lot stronger than I look! I grew up on a horse farm in Ireland and had to keep up with the boys with my chores so if I can lift a foal that's almost as heavy as I am, I can take on a car," Jamie giggled, moving her arms so they were to make muscles. Another laugh escaped her as she actually thought about taking on a car, shaking her head. Soon she was going to have to run to the ladies room she was laughing so hard.
"Well, shit, what are you correcting yourself for?" She smiled, shrugging. Cursing was normal for Jamie since she did it daily and sometimes said curses way too much. Most of the time it was in Gaelic when she was around doctors or nurses but a lot of the time it was in English just to piss them off. Doctors weren't cool in her mind, at least these doctors weren't since they really knew how to push her buttons and to not listen. "Ew! Drooling!?" She wrinkled her nose when he said he had been drooled on and she found it absolutely disgusting. Some of the people in here really deserved to be in here, but others didn't. They needed help, yeah, but they didn't need to be locked away for their entire lives. "I wasn't originally supposed to be put into an asylum. I was supposed to go somewhere else but my nightmares were apparently too bad so they threw me in here. My dad feels so guilty about it that he hasn't come to see me yet..."
His family didn't talk to him? That was so wrong in every way possible. Not only was he hot, he had an awesome personality from what she could see and his family just didn't care. Jamie's family cared, they were just so far away it was hard for them to come to see her. "My brother takes a trip over here when he can, sometimes he brings my other siblings if he can get them out of school or whatever. It's a long flight from Ireland to here and he has to get all of the currency changed over so if he can get the time off he comes over. He's trying to get my dad to come over so he can stop feeling so guilty," she smiled a little bit, playing with the wrapper to her candy bar. "It does help a little, but then it makes me miss home more than anything else. But, he does bring me food." She giggled, shaking her head. Jamie loved food a lot and if she could get a taste of home cooking she would.

'' take your past and burn it up and let '' it go , c a r r y on i'm s t r o n g e r than you'll ever know Slight envy filled him as she spoke of her family actually coming when they could, they were even out of the country. He had hopped and wrote to his mother basically begging her to come and see him but received nothing into return, it was as if she was disowning him for his quick actions and the consequences because of them. Could he blame her though? She had a son locked up in an institution after all, and the idea of getting out was looking grim as could be. No one knew around his town though, his mother had uttered that to him before he left that no one would know.
Sigh came from him quick and quiet, he could only imagine what his brother was saying. Probably told his whole town, friends and family included that he was dead. Killed in the war never to return. He knew bis brother wouldn't visit and didn't expect him to but it was still rough to deal with being so alienated from everything he once knew. He brought it upon himself though, what he thought was right was obviously wrong in everyone's eyes.
Even within his own dark thoughts though he smiled as she went on about the home cooking and her family, at least she had someone. She seemed to need to be here less than he did, he gave it a few years, maybe even a year tops of being here and he was going to bail out. HE would break the hell out of this place if he had to.
"At least you family is understanding, and i'm sure your father will come around. your a doll and i'm sure he can't stay away" He grinned. "And yes i,ve had to seen the harsh side of this place with the drooling and people wheeled over in a corner to stare at a wall. better off talking to yourself in this place a lot of the time."
He balled up the empty candy wrapper and tossed it on his untouched tray full of garbage called food then stretched out, uncoiling tense muscles and the kinks he had built up within shoulders from listless nights.
"Well when your brother comes back for a visit tell him to bring me some pie. I'll give him a nice crazy man hug and won't threaten him with a spoon if i see him. Sound good? And maybe ill share with you... that's up in the air it this point lil' lady."
Tongue pocked out playfully from his mouth while he chuckled, he would threaten every one with a spoon at this point to get some good ol' home cookin' or even some burger king!

Jamie smiled gently, trying her best to be sympathetic for his family lacking on the support area. It was awful for a family to not support their kid no matter what they thought about the kids life decisions. "My brother will gladly do it. We're all about family and if someone's family isn't here, we step in," she smiled gently, knowing her brother would be happy to act as a brother of sorts. Devin had always been that way and Jamie had naturally taken on that kind of attitude as well. His comment about her being a doll made her smile, even blush a little bit as she looked down. "My dad's just ashamed. He's called me a few times saying he feels like he failed as a dad and that he feels like he let me down. It's not true, he did everything in his power to ensure my brother and I were as well off as we could be. I really hope he comes around to visit me this next time they come up, it would make my day completely." Jamie smiled at the thought of her dad coming to visit her in the asylum, just wanting to see his face. After all, she was the spitting image of her dad only in a more feminine form.
Nate wanted pie, Jamie would make sure he got pie. "Apple pie? Key Lime pie? My little sister makes amazing pie, and I mean any kind of pie. I convinced her to make me Oreo Creamcake Pie. It's sooooo good!" she giggled, loving her siblings. "Are you threatening me with a spoon?! I must tell you, I'm a champion in spoon fighting. World renowned too," Jamie smirked, glad she had someone to kid around with. Nate shouldn't be in here even if he did have a trauma disorder, that was just therapy galore and it was easier than being in here. This place was for people who were looney in the head, unlike these two sitting at the lunch table having a normal conversation. Granted, Jamie's nightmares were the worst and she screamed and scratched her way awake but that could probably be handled outside of the asylum.
Taking in a deep breath, she watched Nate for a few minutes before giving a small smile. "You wanna go for a walk or something? It's kind of sad being in the cafeteria. Or I could show you my epic stash in my room," Jamie laughed gently, knowing her stash of food was epic. The nurses had allowed her to decorate her room with all of her drawings and sketches, some more morbid than others, but behind a few of those sketches on her desk was her box of food. It was a personal box that she had been allowed to have and no one was allowed to go through it without a good reason. So, she hid it behind her drawings that were more for her to recall just what she was having nightmares about, which was some part of her therapy.

'' take your past and burn it up and let '' it go , c a r r y on i'm s t r o n g e r than you'll ever know He grinned even wider as that loving giggly note hit her voice as she talked about her family, it was cute and endearing. yeah there was a hint of jealousy but he loved hearing that other people also had good home lives as he had, well besides the minor blip in his that had created a huge rupture. Then as she began rattling off pie mouth began to water and he let out a moan, she was torturing him!
"Hey, pie is pie miss! Just give me some and all will be well, ill even set aside my spoon!"
He cracked up at her stating she was a champion spoon fighter though, that was originality and he loved it to the core. God if only he had known her outside of this place, she would have been the perfect reason for him to stay out of the war, not even his girl back then had been enough but then again she had been a prissy lil' thing unlike this down to earth girl next store with a streak of spunk in her. But you couldn't change the past and mold it into something you wanted.
"Well let's get movin'! Wasting time in here with these mush heads. Might as well stroll around for a bit, then you can take me back to your room."
He let the last part slip out provocatively while tossing her a playful wink and springing to his feet and snatching up his tray. Laughter echoed from his depths and he moved towards the trash where he dumped the filth from his tray and deposited it into a window where the wash ladies gave him a grateful smile. he was always nice to the staff and took care if his things, most of the time he was respected for that and in return he gave respect for it was lodged into him to the bone.
"Come on Jamie! Let's frollic before the heavy weight guards think something is up!"
He began bouncing on the balls of his feet like a small child as eyes glittered with amusement and a touch of mischief.

i think the spotlight always gives you stage fright †WISH THIS ALL WOULD END RIGHT†
†STOP MAKING MY HEAD SPIN† it's over but what if we just pretend
Jamie gave a soft laugh at Nate's eagerness to get out of the cafeteria, knowing exactly how he felt. Having to sit around and do nothing pretty much all day got annoying after awhile so any chance Jamie had, she got out and about. "Oh lala, maybe I'll show you more than my room," she winked and giggled, playing back with him. It was so nice to have someone to at least talk and laugh with, joke around and have some time to be normal with. Nate was as normal as could be in this place and Jamie was a little messed up but she could be rather normal.
She had to gather all of her little treats in order to get back to their room, after all, the only time they were supposed to have outside treats was during visits. Nate was bugging at her to hurry up so she tried to, bumping him once she was standing up right. Holy hell he was tall, a lot taller than her tiny five foot nothing self. "You sure know how to make a girl feel obnoxiously short," Jamie giggled again, becoming awfully giggly since she started talking to Nate. Maybe it was the fact she was talking to a guy, probably more the fact that she was actually talking to someone in general. Yeah she got to talk to doctors, but they never listened and they most certainly couldn't relate what so ever so Nate was the closest person to normal for her to talk to.
As they walked along she swung her arms, loving her over-sized sweatshirt that her brother had brought her last time. It may be summer outside but it was mighty cold in the asylum on most days so she wore a sweatshirt...when she was allowed. "It's kind of stupid that they make us stay inside where it's so damned cold. I'd rather be outside in the heat, ya know?" She tilted her head to look up at him, having to take a few quick strides to match his one stride. Being so tiny meant most people were faster than her, and a lot stronger, so Jamie would work her hardest to keep up with whoever she was with.

'' take your past and burn it up and let '' it go , c a r r y on i'm s t r o n g e r than you'll ever know Wink tossed back at her as she played on his words about her room, it was like two people out in society flirting and have a good time instead of two people dubbed as nothing more than lunatics no matter how small their problems. But it was great, he would take this day and live with it for as long as possible, to keep his mood up and prove to himself that not everything was horrible here, that he could live through it all. He had been to war and survived, a little screwed up but what could this place do to him? He wasn't being shot at or killing people, he was just in a place that like to pick at you and poke your buttons to see if you could be "Cured."
As she giggled about their height difference he paused for a moment to look down at her, she was a tiny little thing compared to him and he burst out laughing before he could stop himself. But being small wasn't a bad thing, his height though ran in the family as his father and brother both had been really tall. His father topped both of them when he was alive.
"Listen, at least you can hide easy! That's a perk of being short! i can't hide anywhere with these damn shoulders and tallness. So watch it woman, its not my fault i"m blessed with this amazing height!"
he noticed her struggling to keep up so steps shortened and pace slowed as they slid from the depths of cafeteria and crept into the halls. Nurses just smiled and waved while people nodded, he wasn't trouble and they knew it here. He could roam freely and not much was said in return thankfully. He grinned at her as she spoke about the chill in the air within walls, tugging on her shirt lightly with fingers before hip checking her, bumping her gently.
"You should get me one of them fancy sweaters too! Sweaters and pie! Make it happen! But good luck finding one that fits, my ma always had trouble finding some that fit. Always had to get the damn like XXXL ones so they weren't too short. Way to make me feel fat!"
He was happy right now, flashbacks and trauma placed into the back depths of his mind not trying to emerge. He liked her company, she made him feel good and not so lost and screwed up. Jamie was like the light in the dark, someone guiding him from harsh reality he had lived through to a better place. Sappy as hell but he had no other way to think about it.
"So where you wanna go hun? Your room for a good timmmmme? We can wander outside though only the yard... Your choice captain! I'm just the one who is navigating so we don't get lost.... i know how you women drive. I'm on to you."
He looked at her seriously for all of about three seconds but it broke and he just started laughing, so much for trying to act like he meant something.
