SIXTEEN. MALE. HIGH.
[style=scroll;]Ah, hello there. I’ve heard you’re interested in being cured here at the luxurious Lucid Manor. Well, let me just tell you that you’ve come to the right place, and not to brag or anything, but we’re the best one around. We may be small and cramped at times, but we’re fully functioning with a brilliantly crazy recommended staff. We’re sure you’ll fit in just right with your new friends who are suffering trying to get better with you, too…
Likewise, to inform everyone, this should be written in first person, as if your character was answering. It’s more fun that way, that’s for sure, so if you can do it that way, that’d be fantastic. If you wish to do OOC notes, simply put them in (parentheses) and you’re good to go.
Well, let’s start off on an easy question, shall we? What is your legal birth name? We’d prefer it if you put it in first middle last or first, middle initial last format. Likewise, what nicknames do you go by?
A: My name is Ceil Andrew Monroe.
With that out of the way, how about you inform us of your birthday and your age? You don’t need to include a year, mind you, but the format should be month date, age.
A: I was born on October 1st, and I’m sixteen.
Okay, with that said, can you give us a description of what you look like? Include your play by first, your hair and eye colour, your weight, height and build, scars, tattoos or piercings, and any other physical description you feel like including.
A: I’ve been told I look like Asa Butterfield, but I find the comparison annoying and irrelevant. I really don’t look like him at all. I stand at four feet tall and weigh about one hundred and eleven pounds. My hair is dark, either black or dark brown depending on the light, I keep it cut and well-kept. I’m obviously smaller than most of your patients, but I don’t eat much so it’s not surprising. I don’t often go outside so I’m rather pale, I’d even go as far as saying sickly pale. Everyone seems to notice my eyes first, for whatever reason. They’re large and gray-blue. My foster parents have called my ‘scrawny’, with little to no muscle to me. (ooc; Yes, I know Asa Butterfield looks really young. He actually is fifteen, and the character is supposed to look younger than he is.)
Seeing as you’re obviously a patient, what disorders do you have? If you’re new to this and everything and are quite unsure about what you have (or you want to play out finding your disorders in game), list them here anyways. Give a good description of what they are so we don’t have to go looking up in our medical dictionaries.
A: This is ridiculous; you should already know this. And nothing really needs explaining, you are doctors, right? I have primary insomnia, meaning I don’t sleep. I usually crash after a week or so, but I’m back on my feet quickly. According to the last doctor I saw I’m a sociopath, but I’m not on board with that one. Psychopathy is included in my list of ‘problems’, or that’s what you’ll be told if you ask the other doctors.
How long have you been at Lucid Manor? Are you a brand new patient, or have you been here for a few years and don't see an open door to leave the walls in the near future?
A: I’m new to Lucid, of course. I doubt I’ll be getting out of here anytime soon, though. With your definition of ‘fixed’ I’ll probably spend my entire life in here until I can convince you otherwise.
Now that we have a general feel for what you look like and your name and everything, it’s time to really explore who you are. So, with that said, tell us some of your likes. You can either list as many as you want, but they should all be logical to who you are.
A: I don’t like an abundance of things, and even the things I do like tend to dissipate after a while. Nothing stays fun forever. I do like dogs, the night, games, children(the ones that aren’t annoying as hell), running, and the moon.
Likewise, what are some dislikes you have? Please try and keep it even with how many likes you put. Even is good, you know.
A: I’ll keep my dislikes simple, seeing as there are more of those than likes. I detest cats, people trying to ‘fix’ me or convince me of how sane I am, the color green, most of you doctors, the sunlight, and someone stopping my games.
With that said, what are some of your strengths? You can name anything you’re relatively good at, but remember, if it’s outlandish, we’ll report you to the authorities. You can list them if you wish.
A: My strengths? I run; I’m fast. I suppose that could be a strength of mine. I like to consider my child-like looks a strength, people tend to think better of children. I’m good at reading people, telling what they’re thinking, how they’re feeling.
And, lastly, what are some of your weaknesses? They should roughly even out your strengths, and you should keep the list as even to your strengths as you can. A helpful tip: think opposites of your strengths.
A: People underestimate me often, it can get rather annoying. I’m not very strong so I get tired out faster than some

SECION II – THE PERSONALITY
Now that we have a general feel for what you look like and your name and everything, it’s time to really explore who you are. So, with that said, tell us some of your likes. You can either list as many as you want, but they should all be logical to who you are.
A: I don’t like an abundance of things, and even the things I do like tend to dissipate after a while. Nothing stays fun forever. I do like dogs, the night, games, children(the ones that aren’t annoying as hell), running, and the moon.

So, with that out of the way, can you describe your personality out for us? Include things like how you interact with others, what you’re like, how you act. Don’t strictly make it on one thing, but include a various set amount of things, really let us know who you are. Sell yourself. This part should be at least two paragraphs.
A: I like to think of most things as a game. There are winners, and there are losers. Pawns and players. The pawns will change and the scenery will change-but the game will always stay the same. I find that people use various strategies, personalities and outlooks to win. The nice, the pushovers, mean, rude, sarcastic, the idiotic, pessimists and optimists-but I doubt that much of it is real. People consciously make decisions and choose actions, they choose their personality and they manipulate it to their advantage.
I’m more intelligent that most people my age-most people in general. I learned early on that brain is significant over brawn. I make up for my lack of athletic abilities by being smarter than the others. People don’t like to think someone as ‘innocent-looking’ as I am can really be that smart or be so horrible. I found that I can manipulate others with my looks, by pretending to be something I’m not.
I’m not a big fan of people; I think most of them are annoying and gullible. Because I don’t even remotely like them, their wants and needs aren’t any of my concern. That might sound selfish, but I have a right to be selfish. When I do find someone I take a liking to, however rare that is, I like to keep them around. Despite myself, I find the company can be refreshing.
When people get on my bad side, though, I hold a grudge. There is no sympathy or remorse included in the equation; just wanting revenge. If you didn’t catch on quickly enough, I don’t take kindly to someone messing with me or interfering.
Anything else you want to tell us? You can put any hobbies, special talents or anything really here that relate to what makes you special and unique.
A: Does it look like I have anything else to say to you? (Ooc; Ceil has an affinity for childish people/things, because of his lack of a childhood. On another note; he can be either high or medium profile. I just wasn't sure which was more appropriate.)
SECTION III – RANDOM QUESTIONS
Tell us a little about your motivations and goals for the future.
A: Motivation? The first is to get out of this prison-with or without consent. And the second is to find someone who can actually play the game as well as I can.
Why did you choose Lucid Manor? Or, if you didn’t admit yourself, why did the person who admitted you choose Lucid Manor?
A:I was taken into custody and sent here. I don’t really know who decided this was the best course of action, but I don’t much care. Apparently, they think this place will ‘cure’ me of whatever disease they think has infested my brain.
What are some of your complaints about Lucid? Please, we like to hear your complaints on our institution.
A: There’s nothing to do. I’m going to end up wandering around like a dimwit because there is absolutely nothing amusing here. My only other complaint is the doctors. But, really, who here wants to be interrogated by a pompous fool every day.
Tell us something that you failed at, and that you’ve struggled through to make it a better situation; was it hard and painful, or easy and gentle?
A: I failed at convincing my them that I was sane enough to stay out of this hell-hole. I mean, really, why else would I be here?
What are five goals for your future? These can really be anything.
A: Even if I did have more than two concrete ideas of goals for my future, I wouldn’t very well go about telling you.
What sort of person do you see yourself as? This shouldn’t be the same as your personality section, but rather a personal insight to what you are in your own mind.
A: As arrogant as it sounds; I like to consider myself a genius. A genius who couldn’t manage to convince some government fools that he was sane, but a genius nonetheless.
Tell us something that was difficult or stressful that you’ve accomplished over the years. What was it? How did you fair? Did it make you a stronger person?
A: I’ve dealt with twenty six foster families. I think that’s a pretty good accomplishment.
SECTION IV – FAMILY AND HISTORY
Tell us a bit about your home life; your mother, father, any siblings you had. Tell us about that kitten you had as a child who followed you around, or the ferret who stole your money because it was shiny. Tell us how you interacted with your family.
A: My parents were optimistic fools, at first. My father was off in prison until I was five, when he returned to London for me and mother. Mum clucked over me like a mother hen, protective and chiding. Da tried to sew me up into a vision of himself. He tried to make me ‘right’ and ‘good’. He wanted a hero, not a villain. Right after we moved to Ireland, my father started drinking. Da lost his job, mum became a prostitute. I had to fend for myself after that; mum was always away and dad was always drunk. I didn’t have any siblings, but I did have a dog. His name was Edgar. He was nice, loving, loyal, sweet. He got hit by a car when I was six, though.
Did you finish school and go onto something higher, or are you a drop out? How did you do in school? Explain all you can about your schooling life, and why you went to an institute of higher learning.
A: School was easy for me, well the work. The teachers liked me, thought I was a responsible young adult. The other students, of course, found me rather odd. I was a bit of a loner and I tended to keep to myself. I skipped a few grades and have roughly a high school education, but then I got taken into custody.
Now, lastly, tell me about your history. Include your childhood to now. It doesn’t have to be in great detail, but this part should be the longest part of your application, it really gives us a feel to how you grew up and glues all of you together, you know? At least make it three paragraphs at the minimum, but longer than that is a virtue, and shorter than that won’t be accepted. Please include how you got your disorders, and make sure everything sounds realistic and clear.
A: I was born in London, spent five years alone with my mum in an apartment. Like I said, mum was a mother hen and da tried to make me a ‘good boy’. My parents were good people I suppose, despite my father having been in prison, and I thought I loved them. I don’t think I ever really did, thinking back on it.
When I was seven my parents moved to Ireland; dragging me along for the ride. I resented them for that and for the drinking my father engaged in. Dad lost his job, mum ended up on a corner with hardly any clothes. The less my mother was home, the more I fended for myself. Dad was usually passed out on the couch, on the phone, or wandering around naked and drunk off his arse.
I didn’t have much of a childhood, grew up fast I suppose. So, it didn’t take long for me to discover my parents were in debt with loan sharks. At the time, I thought of it as a game. And in this game, I could only think of one solution. Seeing as my parents weren’t good parents anyway, and they were sunk in debt, I decided that they should just disappear. I was more naïve, then, and I honestly thought it was something I could take back. It was only later that I discovered otherwise.
My parents were asleep when I shot them(my father had a handgun under the mattress) , so they didn’t feel any pain. I put pennies over my parent’s eyes; as to pay the toll to cross the River Styx. The police found the unusual scene disturbing, especially when they found me alone in my room. Of course, nobody suspected the young boy to have killed his parents. They searched, instead, for a murderer.
I was sent to the states with my grandparents while they investigated. In the end they tried to pin the homicide on the loan sharks, which turned out unsuccessful of course. My grandparents didn’t expect me to be the way I am. They expected a nice, loving, caring young man. When I was twelve, they called me ‘disturbed’ and put me in a foster home.
I went from home to home for years, each set of parents as welcome as the last. I never lasted long in any of them; apparently I was too peculiar to keep. Every time I was sent back, I seemed to get worse.
I’d always had issues sleeping, and I’d never been a very kind boy. But my insomnia and the nightmares got worse every time I went to a new home. Eventually, I decided to just stop sleeping. As well as the insomnia developing to ridiculous heights, I grew less and less tolerant of the people as the days went by.
Five months ago I was sent to my last foster home. The family seemed nice enough, they looked normal and sweet. As it usually is, that façade of friendliness didn’t last. My newest father-a man named Anthony-turned out to be a rather bad person. He was, put in simple terms, an abusive alcoholic. My dearest mother-Laura was her name-was very much into the drug scene.
Now, I’m not a very tolerating person. But I did wait for them to send me back; I waited two months for them to send me back to the foster home. When they didn’t, I took matters into my own hands. It might seem cruel or wrong, but I think I had good reasoning.
When my foster parents were both found dead-pennies and all-I was taken into custody. I saw five psychiatrists and two therapists before someone made the decision to cart me off to Lucid. It was apparently decided that, at least my foster father’s death, was in self-defense. I tried, in vain I might add, to escape custody.
Since arriving here, I’ve taken to spending most of my time alone. I don’t like the doctors and I don’t want to see a therapist. I’ve put up an act of pure innocence around most of the people I’ve met-despite them hardly believing me-and I prefer to stay silent around the others.
SECTION V – THE ROLE PLAY SAMPLE
So, you’re a new player around these parts, aren’t you? We’re glad you’ve made it through the application process; we know it’s a lot, but we don’t want loonies for staff around here, you know… and we don’t want sane people as patients. And this is the last little stretch you have to write. We want to see how well you write – so write an RP sample of your character that’s two hundred and fifty words minimum to introduce yourself to our little family. If this is your second or more character, you are excused from having to write an RP sample, but you should link it to the sample you already have.
A:
The click of a chess piece to the board was the only sound in the room. A pale hand reached out to the other side and moved one of the white pieces too. It might’ve seemed unusual to play chess with yourself; but it wasn’t as if Ceil had anyone to play with him anyway. And it wasn’t as if he was really paying much attention to the game. No, the young man was more drowning in his thoughts than playing chess.[/blockquote]
Lucid Manor. He even despised the sound of the wretched place. The young brunette boy actually thought of it as a prison more than an asylum. A prison filled with insane inmates. Ceil sighed to himself and tipped one of the pieces with his finger, watching it tilt precariously before toppling to the side. Gray-blue eyes wandered to the door again, and then to the window on the far side of the room. If he didn’t know how futile it was, he would’ve tried to make a sixth escape attempt. Blinking boredly, the sixteen year old stood from his cross legged position.
Baggy white clothes hung off his thin form as he moved toward the door, tugging it open slowly and stepping into the hall. The long corridor was anything but inviting, white and cold. Rolling the king in his hand, Ceil began to walk toward the last door. Therapy was at three and it was almost two thirty, meaning he would have to go take his medication before doing anything. Without bothering to knock, the short boy opened the door and approached the woman sitting at her desk.
If he remembered correctly, her name was Sheila. She was a nurse at Lucid and, later that day, would be transporting him there. What he wouldn’t give to stuff her in the trunk of a car and push her off a cliff. Ceil held out a thin fingered hand and the kindly-smiling woman dropped three pills there. The scrawny, pale boy tilted his head back and swallowed distastefully. If he had anything to do with it, he wouldn’t be at Lucid Manor long and he definitely wouldn’t be taking anymore unidentified pills.

ASA BUTTERFIELD. IZZY. NOPE.
